I started this project because I wanted to try my hand at writing an OS X application and I also wanted to learn Swift since it's rapidly becoming the new standard for OSX/iOS development.

Blackjack was ideal for this project since the game logic is simple enough and dealing with decks of cards allowed me to explore some of the language features/quirks.

Popwords

This older hobby project came about because I wanted to see if certain words appeared in pop music lyrics more often than others.

I used/learned Python to acquire a list of top songs from Billboard's API. Then the lyrics for each song were pulled from another source and normalized.

The word frequency tables were stored in Amazon's SimpleDB and pulled into the UI using PHP. The frontend was implemented using JavaScript and the protovis visualization library.

I work for a financial services company that develops websites for banks and brokerages. While working here, I have developed projects using a variety of languages/frameworks including C#, ASP, nodejs, angularJS and jQuery. I am currently the development lead for one of our clients and I manage the maintenance/enhancements for their site.

Previously, I worked for a human resources company where I was on the team that maintained the web version of their payroll software. While employed there, I primarily worked with Java/J2EE, Dojo and FLEX/AS3.

Lander

This is a Lunar Lander like game that I wrote as a Canvas/HTML5 demo. It's fairly basic but it's written entirely in vanilla JavaScript with no external libraries or frameworks. The goal is to land the ship softly on a flat surface using the arrow keys to adjust the thrust.

React Earthquake Map

I started working on this earthquake monitoring application because I wanted to become more familiar with the React framework.

The application utilizes the public earthquake catalog API provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This project is still being actively developed and I plan to add more features to it in the future. I will be adding it to my Github repositories once I finish cleaning up the code.
